Hyaluronic Acid - Ingredient for Serum

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (also known as sodium hyaluronate) is a polysaccharide compound that occurs naturally in every tissue of the body, but found mostly in its highest concentrations within the skin, joints, and cartilage.

As we age, the skin loses hyaluronic acid, resulting in a diminished ability to retain moisture. Unknown to many, this natural gel is able to hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in moisture, making it the perfect hydrating component known for use on human skin. Hyaluronic acid has been added to Aivonda®'s revolutionary formula in two different forms to optimise its impact towards hydrating the skin while working to smooth out fine lines.

The first is a high molecular weight form (HMW) which hydrates the top epidermal layers of the skin by forming a moisture barrier that not only prevents excessive evaporation, but also instead, draws additional moisture from the environment. The second is a low molecular weight form (LMW) that has been enzymatically-reduced to less than 50,000 Daltons in size. This micronised form significantly elevates its ability – along with various other vital active ingredients – to be absorbed deeply into the skin, where it can now exert greater moisturisation impact from within, thereby promoting a smoother, more supple complexion.
