Horsetail Extract - Ingredient for Anew-Phytoestrogen Cream
Just as its name suggests, Horsetail is a strange-looking perennial plant with creeping, string-like rootstock and roots at the nodes that produce numerous hollow stems which is commonly found in moist loamy or sandy soil all over North America and Eurasia. Horsetail contains large amounts of silicic acid and silicates (about 15%), flavonoids, phenolic acids, alkaloids (including nicotine), and sterols. No other herb in the entire plant kingdom is so rich in silicon as horsetail and much of its therapeutic effectiveness is due to its high silica content, a large proportion of which is soluble and can be absorbed. This trace element promotes the growth and stability of the skeletal structure, binding protein molecules together in the blood vessels and connective tissues. Silicon is also the main element out of which collagen, the "body glue" that holds our skin and muscle tissues together, is produced from.
